DDR Museum - Berlin's Interactive Museum: Ticket

This museum is not your typical place to just look and read, you will experience firsthand what it was like to be part of the GDR (German Democratic Republic). You will be able to see hundreds of objects from the socialist era of Germany, in an experience that actively involves the visitors.

Living under communist rule was not easy, but this museum will give you a vivid insight into what it was like to be under the control of the Stasi, watch East German television and take part in (rigged) elections.

The exhibition touches on iconic themes of East Berlin, such as the Stasi and the Wall, and illustrates the daily life of those who followed the rigid regulations of the GDR. You will feel like you are experiencing the oppressive atmosphere of the time, while exploring a typical apartment in an anonymous building reminiscent of those of the communist years. It will not be a pleasant experience, but it will certainly be fascinating.

To complete the experience, the exit from the museum takes place through a section of the Berlin Wall. As you exit, you will feel the contrast with the fresh air of freedom.

The DDR Museum has received two nominations as "European Museum of the Year", a significant recognition for a museum that only opened its doors in 2006!
