Although it was built to house monks, the Church of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi Complex boasted a regal elegance, so much so that rulers secured its patronage. The church prospered over time thanks to the support of a series of particularly devout monarchs.
Today you can admire the extraordinary works kept inside, including the paintings of Pedro de Rubiales brought from Spain, the famous Lamento by the Modena-born Guido Mazzoni and the magnificent frescoed ceiling of the sacristy, an authentic expression of High Renaissance art.
